Life Members

Every year the Ottawa Swans induct a single person as a Life Member of the club, with the exception of 2008 when the club inducted two of its founding members.  Inductees are to have shown an unwavering commitment to the club, whether this be on the field or off.  The Ottawa Swans consider Life Membership to be one of the highest honours the club can hand out.  Below are the current life members of the Ottawa Swans Australian Football Club and details on why they have been inducted.

Rich Keane

RICH KEANE - Inducted 2008

Rich Keane joined the Swans in early 2007 and is one of the original members of the club. He immediately signed on as the clubs first coach and also got involved at the Board level.  Rich was responsible for the development of the first batch of Canadians to play Australian football in Canada's Capital region.  Rich is also recognized for his ability to get the most out of the first year players and give them the confidence to play at the highest level in Canada.

Off the field Rich was equally important, taking on sponsorship responsibilities and many other roles in the early stages, he was able to help build the club to its current strong position.  Rich returned to Australian after the 2009 season.

Steve SpurrellSteve Spurrell - Inducted 2008

Steve was the Ottawa Swans' first captain in the club's 2008 OAFL debut season.  He played all games in 2007 and 2008, with the exception of four games he sat our due to injury.  He was selected to the OAFL All Star team in 2008 on the Half Back Flank.

Off the field Steve was one of the Ottawa Swans founding members in 2006.  With the aim to join the OAFL within a few years, the club went on to achieve this objective in its second year of operation.  Steve remains heavily involved with the club off the field in various roles.

Ray KaduckRay Kaduck - Inducted 2009

Ray joined the Swans in 2007, watching the club play in a handful of exhibition games before taking the reigns as the clubs president for the 2008 season.  Since joining the Swans Ray has turned the club into one of the most succesful off field organisations in Canada.

Ray has introduced several initiatives in the way the club operates both behind the scenes and on game days, all of which have increased the profile of the club in the Capital region and abroad.  Ray is the Swans longest serving president.
