The Ottawa Swans Women’s+ side capped off a great season with a remarkable showing at the AFL Ontario 2025 Awards, bringing home three of the league’s most prestigious individual honors for the Women’s+ and one for the Men’s.
Isabel Kleinbub was named League Best & Fairest, becoming only the second Swan in club history to receive the league’s top individual accolade. Kleinbub’s consistency, work rate, and leadership were key drivers in the Swans’ successful campaign. Her win underscores not only her personal excellence but also the strength of Ottawa’s developing talent pipeline.
The Swans’ dominance inside 50 was highlighted by Abigail McDonald, who secured the Leading Goal Kicker award. A constant scoring threat throughout the season, McDonald’s accuracy and ability to break games open gave Ottawa a crucial edge in tight contests. Her award is a testament to both her finishing skills and the team’s ability to deliver the ball effectively into attack.
On the Men’s side, Jordan ‘Lebron’ Harcombe became the first Men’s player for the Swans to take home the Leading Goalkicker Award in the AFLO. Lebron has been a consistent goalkicker for the Swans for just over a decade, and it was great to see his efforts rewarded.
Guiding the squad from the sidelines, Yaser Abou Elenein was named Coach of the Year after steering the Women’s+ team to their second minor premiership. Under his leadership, the Swans built on their reputation as one of the league’s most disciplined and well-drilled outfits, combining defensive resilience with attacking flair.
These awards reflects the Swans’ continued rise as a strong club within AFL Ontario. With individual brilliance matched by collective success, the Ottawa Women’s+ team has set a benchmark for excellence which they hope to carry into the Finals that will begin in a few weeks.
In addition a number of Swans were named to the All-Ontario Teams.
